Teknopark İstanbul is preparing to host Turkey’s first Cyber Security Incubation Centre. According to a press release published on 11 March, the centre, which will operate in the field of cyber security and which will work on deep technology based cyber security ideas, is planned to start operations in 2021.
With the construction still ongoing on the third phase of Teknopark İstanbul buildings, over 70 million liras has been invested for the Cyber Security Incubation Centre to be established in the Cube Incubation building. The centre, which will host entrepreneurs and start-ups that operate in the field of cyber security and develop technology, aims to support 30 internationally thinking cyber security initiatives annually. Entrepreneurs and start-ups at the centre will be able to take advantage of offices, online/offline educations, mentoring, laboratories, clean room infrastructures and technical consultancy for free or at very low costs.
Cyber security is critical all over the world. Looking at the statistics, there are 2,244 different cyber-attacks per day, meaning one attack every 35 seconds worldwide. In line with these rates, the need for cyber security experts increased by 700% across the world between 2016-2019. Again, according to research being done on the subject, Turkey is the 5th country in the world for the most attack suffered. All these figures require our country to develop its own cyber defence system. For this, indigenous ideas need to be developed and supported. Teknopark İstanbul will work to increase the resistance of our country with domestic solutions against cyber-attacks at the centre it will establish, based on all these analyses.
